As a person who values events showcasing many voices at once, I’m really looking forward to being a part of this group reading, Thursday, December 18, 7 PM, at the Cluster Museum. We’ll be in the main gallery, surrounded by the art exhibition If we go, we go together. I will read new poems instigated by hanging out with the poetry of two of my teachers, Mary Ruefle and Diane Wakoski. Read more about the other readers, the artwork, and the Cluster Museum, here. Free. 307 N. Main St., Ann Arbor. The reading starts at 7. Come earlier to view the artwork.
Our next Eco Book Club discussion will take place Monday, January 19, 2025, at 6:30 PM at Literati Bookstore (124 E. Washington, Ann Arbor, Michigan). All are welcome as we discuss Soil: The Story of a Black Mother’s Garden by Camille T. Dungy. Our reading choices are informed by the climate, extinction, and land-abuse crises; environmental racism; and the need to foster a sense of possibility. Find a list of books we have read here. If you’re in downtown Ann Arbor, stop by Literati Bookstore and read my poem, “Vespers,” born on the Huron River bank, which hangs at their Fourth Street entrance. The wonderful people at Poet Tree Town fill Ann Arbor with poster poems each year during Poetry Month (April). Mine’s still there.
