Having just spent 2 and 1/2 weeks in the heaven that is the Vermont Studio Center, I am scrambling to switch to being out in the world mode! I’ve got an embarrassment of riches this month: I’m reading at Ziggy’s in Ypsi tonight (April 7), moderating a dunes panel at Western Michigan University on Wednesday (April 10), leading a discussion of the novel Flight Behavior at Literati Bookstore next week (April 16), then reading poems there a few days later (April 19). It helps a lot that there will be people I’m excited to see in each place. Wish me luck!

April is Earth Month! On Friday, April 19, join Fleda Brown, Teresa Scollon, Ellen Stone, and me, at Literati Bookstore as we read our eco-poems and talk about eco-poetry. We’ve been poetry friends for years and share an abiding connection with plants, animals, and their habitats, and a gathering concern about their futures and ours. We’ll answer audience questions too. 6:30 PM. 124 E. Washington, Ann Arbor, Michigan. Free.

Our next Eco Book Club discussion will take place Tuesday, April 16, 2024, at 6:30 PM at Literati Bookstore (124 E. Washington, Ann Arbor, Michigan). All are welcome as we discuss the novel Flight Behavior, by Barbara Kingsolver. Our reading choices are informed by the climate, extinction, and land-abuse crises; environmental racism; and the need to foster a sense of possibility. Find a list of books we have read here.
